How do I add my first transaction?
Open the Cash Flow tab and tap the + button in the top right. Choose income or expense, enter the amount, select a category, and save. Your dashboard will update immediately.
Does UtilityWorth require an account or internet connection?
No account is required. All your data is stored locally on your device. An internet connection is only used to fetch live stock prices in the Portfolio section.
Is my data synced between iPhone and Mac?
Data is stored locally on each device. iCloud sync between devices is not yet supported but is planned for a future update.
How do I change the app language?
Open Settings (gear icon on the Dashboard) and choose between English and Italian under Language. The app switches instantly without restarting.
Can I create recurring transactions?
Yes. When adding a transaction, enable the Recurring toggle and select the frequency (daily, weekly, monthly, yearly). Recurring transactions are automatically logged on schedule.
How do I edit or delete a transaction?
Tap any transaction in the Cash Flow list to open its detail. From there you can edit all fields or swipe left on the row in the list to delete it.
Can I create custom categories?
Yes. In Settings, go to Categories to add, rename, or delete categories and subcategories for both income and expenses.
What payment methods can I track?
You can track Cash, Bank Transfer, Credit Card, Debit Card, and any custom method you define in Settings.
How do I add a stock or ETF?
Go to the Portfolio tab and tap +. Search by ticker symbol (e.g. MSFT, IWDA). Then add a Buy transaction with the date, quantity, and price. Live prices will be fetched automatically.
What currencies are supported?
All major currencies are supported. You can set your base currency in Settings. Holdings in foreign currencies show gain/loss in your base currency with the FX effect broken out separately.
How are live prices fetched?
Prices are fetched from a financial data API using the ticker symbol you provide. Make sure you're connected to the internet when opening the Portfolio tab to get up-to-date prices.
Can I log dividends?
Yes. Open a holding's detail view and tap the Dividend button to record a dividend payment with date and amount.
How does the savings plan work?
When you create a goal and activate the savings plan, UtilityWorth calculates the monthly contribution needed to reach your target by the deadline, taking into account your chosen investment strategy and expected returns.
What is the Emergency Fund goal?
The Emergency Fund goal uses a built-in calculator that estimates the right fund size based on your monthly expenses and employment situation (employed, freelance, or entrepreneur). It's a guided setup that creates the goal automatically.
How do I mark a goal as completed?
A goal is automatically marked completed when the saved amount reaches 100% of the target. You can also manually update the saved amount from the goal detail view at any time.
What periods can I view in the Report?
You can view data by Year, Quarter (Q1–Q4), or individual Month. Use the navigation arrows to move between years.
What are the smart insights at the bottom of the Report?
UtilityWorth automatically generates insights like your savings rate for the period, your top spending category, and your best month. These appear at the bottom of the Overview tab.
Can I export my data?
Data export functionality is planned for a future update. Your data is stored in a standard format on-device.
What happens if I delete the app?
Deleting the app will erase all local data. Make sure to back up your device via iCloud or iTunes before uninstalling if you want to restore your data later.
How do I set up my patrimony (net worth)?
In Settings, open the Patrimony section. You can enter balances for your current accounts, cash, savings, and other assets. This feeds the Net Worth figure on the Dashboard.
